Valentines Date Outfit Ideas

The most romantic day of the year is here, and are the struggles of ‘What to wear, to the Valentines date tonight?’. Guess what, I thought I’ll save you the long hours of standing still in front of your wardrobe, trying to figure what to wear, and multiple failed changes. I have created 3 looks, with outfit, that will take absolutely no time, to pull a perfect valentines day, date look! Here, you go!

Whether you are going out for a classy candle light dinner, or a movie night, or are making a day out of it, by just hanging out by a cool cafe, to pull a perfect Valentines Date look, all you need is a basic red dress, a bomber jacket, a pair of beautiful earrings, a choker necklace, a pair of black sky high heels, and of-course the most important – your smile!

Look 1 –  GrungeXBarbie

Find a nice bodycon dress, add a nice choker, a pair of sunnies, and a chic bomber jacket and floor him with your grunge!

Look 2 – Take the Minimalist’s route

I don’t like to add too much jazz or too many accessories to any look. So just add simple, cute earrings, a bold red lip color to your lips. and you are all set to rock!

Look 3 – The girl next-door

This one would remind of you of the 90’s and maybe also a lit bit of your school days. Tie your hair, in a high pony tail, with the GrungexBarbie look, and see him melt like candle into a puddle of wax.

Head to toe – Forever 21

Dusky is beautiful!

I have been meaning to write this post since a long, long time and I could not think of a better time than this, because summers I feel is all about colors, and this is the best time to sport all kinds of sorbets, neons and other bright shades.

While most people love colors just like me, I personally know a lot of other kinds of  people too who shy away from them because they think, colors take their tone down by a shade. People who are dusky, subconsciously find themselves inclined towards monochromes. Not that there is anything with that, I love them too, but there is something about colors that I absolutely love! And I think everyone should! Because if it weren’t for colors, life would be so boring, fashion would be so boring. So here’s a post dedicated to all the beautiful people I know, and those whom I don’t know,  but who are blessed with a beautiful sunkissed skin tone.

It does not matter what skin color you are, what age you are, what weight you are, there can be no excuse you can tell yourself for not opting for colors. Colors are beautiful and they reflect your mood beautifully. But if you think they don’t suit your skintone then here’s what you need to do.

Please make peace with your color, because trust me people pay shit load of money on artificial tanning and shit load of time under the sun to get that perfect tan and still disappoint themselves. If you are one of the few lucky ones who are already blessed with a beautiful skin tone, cherish it and instead of sulking and thinking of compromising with monochromes, make your way to colors and discover the lovely world of them.

There are certain things you should keep in mind, one of the first would be to notice that its all about the features. No matter how fair a person is, if they do not have sharp features chances are they are just going to look drab and of course we can’t change the features on our face, but we can sure use ways to enhance the way they look. So make it a rule of thumb, to use certain makeup products always. For instance, for  eyes, eyeliner and eye brow pencil is a must,  likewise for cheeks a bronzer. Take inspiration from any dusky beauty, be it Bipashu Basu or Lisa Hayden or Deepika Padukone, or Joan Smalls, they all use bronzers liberally to define their cheek bones. Apply a bit on the apples of your cheek to give your face a more defined and contoured look, take my word for it, it never fails!

Make sure you don’t use too many colors on your face when your opting for a bright color. Always balance your colorful outfit with just a bold lip color and liner, or in case you want to just highlight your eyes, skip the lipstick altogether and only let the color of your outfit and your kohl lined eyes, do the talking.

NEVER EVER go for a matching makeup shade for all three, lips-eyelids-cheeks, when wearing a bright colored outfit of the same color. Personally, I think its tacky and there is absolutely no reason why anyone should anyone opt for that disaster. Use your own aesthetic sense and play with colors, see what goes with your skin tone. I personally love to pair orange with fuschia dresses and vice versa, gold with black, blue with green, baby pink and red. You can experiment for yourself and see what works for you.

If all that text is not enough to convince you to experiment with colors, I want you to take a look at all these lovely ladies who are dusky and beautiful, who not only wear colors all the time, but also work those shades and how!

Style Epiphany blogs for The wardrobe of a nomad!

You cant beat the excitement that you feel when you meet people who feel just as passionately for fashion as you do. While ofcourse there are a zillion fashion bloggers out there, there are only a few that you connect with and who stand out! That’s where Style Epiphany comes in picture for me. Style Epiphany is a brainchild of Isha Tikku and Prachi Goel, who came up with this pretty blog past February. So how is it any different than other blogs? These two beautiful ladies know how to mix and match and play with textures and colors alike. Also, I absolutely adore l how Tikku adds spunk to her looks by means of some random props or accessories. Don’t believe me? Check out this post they have done for The wardrobe of a nomad, yourself!

We were extremely excited when we were asked to be a guest blogger at Wardrobeofanomad! We love the concept behind her blog- budget fashion. The idea of us ladies looking like million bucks without spending mad amount of money, appealed us. To be honest, we have all had that weak moment when we have been looking for that perfect outfit for a night out, but break down & end up buying something ridiculously expensive in the end, denting our savings account. We wanted to show how to look fairly stylish without spending too much. In this outfit post, we incorporated a lot of thrifted items with one item bought from a high street store (okay we cheated, but in our defense, it was on sale)! The outfit can be worn when you’re out with the girls for drinks in the evening or just a casual date. We threw the hat in because we love a little boy-ish charm to our outfits!

T shirt- thrifted Rs. 200
skirt- Forever 21 on sale Rs 700
Hat- Thrifted- rs. 200
Shoes- Fathom, Hauz khas Village Rs. 1200
Bag- Thrifted from Spain (approx $2)
Sunglasses- Vintage thrifted- Rs. 600

Dressing up ideas for S/S’14

The spring of 2014 is finally upon us and much as I am afraid of the horrid climatic conditions, that the northern part of India would suffer in the coming few months, I think I am just going to enjoy and make the best of whatever little tolerable climate conditions we have until then, why not enjoy till you can right?

So some of the few things that come to my mind when someone says ‘summers’ are shorts, spaghetti-es, noodle strap tops and maxis et al, but what about when you want to take a break from the cliche and want to try something new? Stalk.Buy.Love answered that for me. The lovely peeps there sent me the clothes for the shoot I was styling (for which I’ll be compiling a separate post), but I loved the dresses so much that I could not resist making a separate post for the looks I wanted to create out of those dresses and hence this.

The first outfit is a fitted cropped top and skirt. I have styled it with a statement Zara necklace and clutch, the shoes are Steve Madden. I think this look can take you from a brunch to a party seamlessly. What I love about this dress is that, it accentuates your curves and gives your body an image of an hour glass figure like magically and trust me I am no Kim Karadashian (Lol :p) but boy that skirt works wonders as far as the fit is concerned!

From the fit to the fabric there isn’t a thing that I do not love about this dress! And last but not the least its available for an unbelievable price of Rs 1,499 (Yes I am still sticking by my ‘You don’t have to be rich to be fashionable’ mantra, just in case you had your doubts looking at that pretty dress! :p)

I am wearing a small, Shanaya dress, you can check it out here too

Look 2

The Eliza Bow dress from Stalk. Buy. Love is also one of the few dresses I sourced for the styling of the other shoot with the model and all, but again the moment I got my hands on it, I felt it begged me to do a pin up look with it! The cutesy bows, the A line fit, the way it falls on you, is all so great that I could not help but wear it and style myself in it! If you’ve been on this blog before, you would know by now that I have a soft spot for solids and I get more inclined towards the cut and silhouette of a dress more than anything else. This dress is a prime example of that and is a perfect fit for just about any body type. It fits at your upper waist making it look tiny and because the rest of it is in an A shape, it camouflages any fat that you may have on your lower belly, plus the cute white ribbons just add the right amount of the playful vibe. I wanted to create a retro look with this dress, therefore I have used a printed satin scarf from a purchase from a flea market, Forever21 clutch, sunglasses and shoes are Steve Madden.

I am wearing a small here, you can buy it here

On that note, share your own S/S’14 dressing up ideas? What are you digging this season let me know!
