Love the dim lit ambiance for supper

So after missing from this space for about a month I am back! And here’s what you have missed so far!

While I am on a spree on exploring places in  South India, I am getting an opportunity to explore some really beautiful places, pubs and restaurants. The most recent place I reviewed was a Hotel called Reegalis, located in the posh area of Mysore, Karnataka.

The hotel popularly known as Southern Star before, now called Reegalis, is the star of Mysore by all means, as it is actually one of the most known and oldest hotels in Mysore. So when I got an invite by their manager to review the restaurant, I was thrilled to say the least. And needless to say the experience was awesome.

We began with some really yummy hummus and pita, which is by the way a task in itself to find it anywhere in Karnatka, and yet, it was the most delicious hummus I had ever tasted. I guess it must have been the after effects of the Merlot, they served me that I entirely forgot to click the picture of that. Preceding that they served me another starter, the honey baby corn. I didn’t like it so much because I am not particularly a fan of sweet stuff for starters, but for anyone who likes a bit of sweet and salty starters I think it’ll make for a good choice. Next came, one of a kind of dish, that I had eaten before, chilli baby mushrooms. It was a platter full of  baby mushrooms stuffed with spicy fillings inside. I have to say, they tasted heavenly and honestly I could not get enough of those! I feel its a must try!

After all this, I was so full that I could not any further, but the fellas at the Reegalis were insistent that we have main course, that I ended up giving in. What followed was steaming hot and spicy Thai curry and rice. I was full to the brim and yet I hogged on some more. Truly it was amazing, that I ended up eating dollops despite I was so full!

So if you are travelling to Mysore, and looking forward to eating at a chic restaurant, then I suggest you make your way to Reegalis. The awesome view of the pool side adds to the delicious food they serve. What’s more you can even choose to have Indian food by the pool side only. Hospitable staff, amazing food and great ambiance, and not so heavy on the pocket. Reegalis is a must visit for any person coming to the Mysore for the first time. Hope you enjoyed reading about my experience, as much as I did writing about it (And recalling the taste in mind..burrp!) 😉

Oyster Bay!

Travelling has always been a passion for me, and nothing gives me more satisfaction than exploring places and different culture. So your’s truly is in the Southern part of India, and I have to say, this part of the country is blessed with so much beauty! I’ll have a separate post to update you all on that, but this post is about the lovely restaurant that I reviewed in Mysore, on one drizzly evening.

In Mysore, you can find the best of the South Indian food, but if you want to eat some great north Indian food, than the options are few. Luckily for me, I got to know about Oyster Bay.

Oyster Bay is a foodie’s haven, especially if you have a bias for traditional north Indian food. They began with an Italiano pesto soup and a Three treasure dish, for starters. The three treasure, was essentially a dal papad (an Indian snack made out of lentils) with spicy vegetable fillings inside. Now who would’ve thought you could make use of a papad like that? Spicy and yummilicious it was finger licking good! After that, the Oyster Bay staff served me another spicy dish (Yes, they were told I have a weak spot for all things spicy ;)), called American chilly flakes, which was a green mix of super spicy vegetables with a serving of green salad on the side. I am sure the picture says the story, how delicious it was! For the main course I was served a subzi mazedar, which was again a mix of vegetables, and yet again spicy and delicious.

While the food was delicious, the dim lit ambience, with a water fountain by the side, enhanced the taste so much more! For anyone who is in Mysore and looking for a place for great food, Oyster Bay is the place to go to! So the next time you are Mysore, and are in a mood to spend a lovely romantic soiree with your loved one, I strongly recommend you visit this place once!

Food Review for Corutyard By Marriot, Gurgaon

So recently I was invited to do a review for Courtyard by Marriot, Gurgaon, to do a Restaurant Review for their restaurant, Momo Cafe. Marriots are known for their exclusivity, luxury and taste, so understandably, I was very thrilled to do a review for them. The very first I noticed about the place was their extreme hospitable staff, not only did they take special care of me, but also made sure that the food was done tastefully and garnished beautifully. I started with a bottle of Merlot which was followed by the most exotic and tasty thin crust pizza I have ever had. Later they served a four course meal comprising Thai curry and rice, and some more Pizza and Honey Chilli potatoes. I think what added to the pleasure of eating at the Momo restaurant, was the serene and calm ambiance.

So the next time you are in Gurgaon and looking to eat at a place that gives value for your money, I suggest you make a run to Momo restaurant at the Courtyard by Marriot, I assure you, it wouldn’t disappoint you!

P.S – It would be totally unfair if I didn’t give credit to their wonderful Marketing Communications Manager Mansi, who gave us an opportunity to do a review for them. Thank you Mansi! 🙂

One thing how thewardrobeofanomad is different from other blogs is, that I don’t write just for the heck of writing. Each and every post on my blog here is something that I am genuinely passionate about. Then be it ‘Raid your mum’s closet‘ or ‘The guide for the party season‘, every post is written only because it had to be, because it was something that I wished I had some blog or magazine to tell me about. So I write only that, that I would have liked to read. Point being, I value your time, just as much I value mine which is why you can stay assured if you subscribe to this blog, your feed will NEVER-EVER be spammed. Now let’s get on that post I wanted to share! ;)

Delhi NCR is known for many things, for its culture, street food, fashion and a lot more. In recent past places like Hauz Khas village,Shahpur Jat and Khan market have become hubs for pubs, restaurants, art studios etc. While you get plenty of choices to drink wine at, in Delhi & NCR (Thick wallet is a must ladies!), there’s always been a void of sorts for a place that would cater specially to Wine lovers. As if magically someone heard the secret woes of a wine connoisseursJJ Valaya, the Indian designer extraordinaire has come up with a very fresh and brand new concept of a place specially designed for the wine lovers, called The Home of the Traveler in association with much celebrated brand, The Wine Company. To celebrate their association the two maestros hosted an event for media and guests at the DLF, Cyber Hub Gurgaon. In JJ’s own words ‘‘Travel and wine have a strange yet fascinating connect. Somehow, for me, and for most people I know, a glass of fine wine in new lands and new company works beautifully to satiate the senses and the palate. The Home of the Traveler follows a similar sentiment and is pleased to associate with the Wine Company for its future soirees, both in store and otherwise.”

While I could not get enough of tasting the assortment of wines, which the sweet sommeliers happily helped me through, I could not help but wonder what would it feel like to review this place exclusively. Till that happens, here’s to dreaming about all sorts of amazing wines and yummy cheeses.

P.S – It would be totally unfair if I didn’t mention the glitterati that was present at the event. In attendance were former Cricketer Atul Wassan, socialites Vandy Mehra, Manoj Mehra, Thenny Makhija among others.
