How to style a T-shirt Dress!

image1

As you must have realized already, (if you are on my Instagram page – https://www.instagram.com/rumnrouge/ ) I am obsessed with T-shirt Dresses! They are comfy, they are chic, and if styled correctly, can look uber cool! I picked up, these two dresses from a shop in Pattaya, on my trip to Thailand, and I am so in love with these, that I wear these around almost everywhere.

The tricky thing about T-shirt Dresses is that, if they are not styled properly, they can also look baggy, and kind of drab. So here are some tips, you should keep in mind, while sporting a t-shirt dress.

  • T-shirt dresses are supposed to be kinda over-sized, so ensure that you buy the right size. If you go overboard with the size, chances are, it will end up looking baggy and would fail to create the desired impact.
  • If you are going to wear an over-sized dress, you might want to balance out your look by wearing shoes, that give your dress a good contrast.
  • It’s important that you accessorize your dress, with some nice, chunky, jewelry. For instance, a nice chunky long chain, or a pair of tasseled earrings would always take your look up by a notch.
  • Any casual look, comes out best, when you keep your makeup, soft and subtle. So avoid makeup that may look a bit too harsh. Keep it soft, and minimal.
  • For that matter, you can wear t-shirt dresses, on any occasion, anywhere, but they definitely make for a great outfit choice, for day events.

So what are your thoughts, do you like how I styled my dresses for this shoot? Let me know your thoughts!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know already, that I did a store review a few days back for a furniture store called East Furniture. Unfortunately, I fell terribly sick, and couldn’t write about it sooner. Well, I am back now, so here’s the post!

Located in a tranquil corner of Kormangala, in Bangalore, East Furniture is a store for royalties. The moment you enter the store, you’ll feel this cool breeze touching your face and whiff of raw wood, that comes from their warehouse which is right inside the store. Every piece of furniture, that you’ll spot in this store, is made from hand-picked quality wood. Not just that, they can customize anything under the Sun for you. Their typical clientele includes people, who are looking for something different, something thematic, and of course, those are who willing to pay for their premium products. But here’s the good news, East Furniture has a GST sale on, until the 30th June (Yes, I know, only two days left until it gets over!), which means you still have two days before this crazy sale comes to an end! All the pieces I spotted were examples of fine craftsmanship. I especially fell in love with that blue couch set and the purple chair!

I think, they have some really beautiful pieces, that can add to the decor of your house. If you are into home decor and have been thinking of going furniture shopping, now is time! Rush before their GST sale comes to end!

Last, to last weekend we were invited for a review at the newly opened, Sly Granny in Indranagar. Now, before I go ahead with the full review, let me tell you, that they had me at that name!

A quirky name and a quirkier decor with a touch of grunge, this place, is a ‘must-go-to’ destination for those, who enjoy the idea of theme restaurants. However, the decor is not the only thing, you’ll find yourself impressed with, they have some of the most delicious drinks and dishes on their menu. For instance, our favorite dish on the menu was the Hummus platter and the chicken sliders. I also loved their cocktails which had a tinge of berries and pineapple in them.

So if you are looking to visit a place this weekend in Bangalore, that’s nice, as well as different, I strongly recommend, you make your way to the very Sly Granny!

Hope you have as much fun there, as we did 🙂

Comic Con India – In Bangalore this time!

Before the internet boom happened, and before the kids got tech-savvy with their high end gadgets, it was the world of comics and cartoons that entertained the children and adults alike. Surprisingly West, which is far more advanced than us in the technology aspect, has managed to stay crazy about comics and the fun of it. So much so that they have an entire event dedicated to it called the Comic Con. Now you’ve got to be living under caves if you’ve not heard of the event before! Because anyone who has ever watched The Big Bang Theory knows how much the event can be. Besides, in U.S the event happens on such a large scale that sometimes the entire cast of popular sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother, turn up and oblige the fans with premier of their new season etc. So is it just the American thing? No! Here’s the good news, we are having an Indian version of Comic Con in Bangalore this time! And to top it all, Daniel Portman of The Game of Thrones would be there too to give you company!

So I have just gotten an invite for it and as you might have guessed, I am jumping with joy! Could it get any better than that? I don’t think so! I say save the date, April 3-5’15 fellas!

I am going to be there, will you be?

Who can forget this hilarious episode of TBBT! Entirely dedicated to the Comic Con!

Food for skin – Vedic Line moisturizer

Last month peeps at the Vedic Line, sent me a pack full of goodness, comprising their grapefruit and honey moisturizer. I delayed this post because I wanted to see the real effect of the moisturizer on my skin over a certain duration of time.

DSC_0167

When I got this one, I stopped using my other skin products. Now, I have a mixed type of skin, with the T zone on the face being little oily and the rest of the skin very dry. Therefore, I need a product which is neither so oily that it sprouts up in oil beads on my skin, nor so dry that whole of it gets absorbed and again I end up with dry patches. So I used Vedic Line, for a month and I have to say the results are rather impressive. All I did was, applied about two drops of it on my face and neck and massaged it gently after every face wash.  And after a month I feel my skin is much more supple.

It comes with refreshing fragrance of orange, and absorbs beautifully in the skin. At a price of Rs.220, I feel the product is worth the money! If you suffer from mixed skin issues just like me, I suggest you go for this without a doubt!

You can buy the moisturizer and other Vedic Line products here :

Leather and Tribal Prints!

Winters is my favorite time of the year. You have so much liberty to experiment with clothes, accessories and everything else. You can hide all your love handles and muffins behind the layers of clothes (:p), no? So this, time I was back at home in Delhi, where it was freezing at 3 degrees, here’s the look I sported for an evening out.IMG_20150110_141617

I think some prints, some bold color, and a pair of unique shoes is all it takes to turn even a most boring ensemble into a most interesting one. That’s exactly what became the inspiration for this look. All I have done is paired a blush color satin shirt, with tribal print leggings from Forever 21. Along with shoes from Steve Madden and accessories, an earcuff and midi-joint ring from Forever21. The leather jacket is from Zara. Like the look? What’s your winter style?

So after missing from this space for about a month I am back! And here’s what you have missed so far!

While I am on a spree on exploring places in  South India, I am getting an opportunity to explore some really beautiful places, pubs and restaurants. The most recent place I reviewed was a Hotel called Reegalis, located in the posh area of Mysore, Karnataka.

The hotel popularly known as Southern Star before, now called Reegalis, is the star of Mysore by all means, as it is actually one of the most known and oldest hotels in Mysore. So when I got an invite by their manager to review the restaurant, I was thrilled to say the least. And needless to say the experience was awesome.

We began with some really yummy hummus and pita, which is by the way a task in itself to find it anywhere in Karnatka, and yet, it was the most delicious hummus I had ever tasted. I guess it must have been the after effects of the Merlot, they served me that I entirely forgot to click the picture of that. Preceding that they served me another starter, the honey baby corn. I didn’t like it so much because I am not particularly a fan of sweet stuff for starters, but for anyone who likes a bit of sweet and salty starters I think it’ll make for a good choice. Next came, one of a kind of dish, that I had eaten before, chilli baby mushrooms. It was a platter full of  baby mushrooms stuffed with spicy fillings inside. I have to say, they tasted heavenly and honestly I could not get enough of those! I feel its a must try!

After all this, I was so full that I could not any further, but the fellas at the Reegalis were insistent that we have main course, that I ended up giving in. What followed was steaming hot and spicy Thai curry and rice. I was full to the brim and yet I hogged on some more. Truly it was amazing, that I ended up eating dollops despite I was so full!

So if you are travelling to Mysore, and looking forward to eating at a chic restaurant, then I suggest you make your way to Reegalis. The awesome view of the pool side adds to the delicious food they serve. What’s more you can even choose to have Indian food by the pool side only. Hospitable staff, amazing food and great ambiance, and not so heavy on the pocket. Reegalis is a must visit for any person coming to the Mysore for the first time. Hope you enjoyed reading about my experience, as much as I did writing about it (And recalling the taste in mind..burrp!) 😉

Oyster Bay!

Travelling has always been a passion for me, and nothing gives me more satisfaction than exploring places and different culture. So your’s truly is in the Southern part of India, and I have to say, this part of the country is blessed with so much beauty! I’ll have a separate post to update you all on that, but this post is about the lovely restaurant that I reviewed in Mysore, on one drizzly evening.

In Mysore, you can find the best of the South Indian food, but if you want to eat some great north Indian food, than the options are few. Luckily for me, I got to know about Oyster Bay.

Oyster Bay is a foodie’s haven, especially if you have a bias for traditional north Indian food. They began with an Italiano pesto soup and a Three treasure dish, for starters. The three treasure, was essentially a dal papad (an Indian snack made out of lentils) with spicy vegetable fillings inside. Now who would’ve thought you could make use of a papad like that? Spicy and yummilicious it was finger licking good! After that, the Oyster Bay staff served me another spicy dish (Yes, they were told I have a weak spot for all things spicy ;)), called American chilly flakes, which was a green mix of super spicy vegetables with a serving of green salad on the side. I am sure the picture says the story, how delicious it was! For the main course I was served a subzi mazedar, which was again a mix of vegetables, and yet again spicy and delicious.

While the food was delicious, the dim lit ambience, with a water fountain by the side, enhanced the taste so much more! For anyone who is in Mysore and looking for a place for great food, Oyster Bay is the place to go to! So the next time you are Mysore, and are in a mood to spend a lovely romantic soiree with your loved one, I strongly recommend you visit this place once!
